Trained Bands were a militia of part time soldiers founded in 1571 under Elizabeth I. Each county had one, but London had a number. This blog focuses on the Red Regiment, that mustered its men from Aldgate, Tower and Billingsgate.

Grant at The Players’ Aid sets out his top 15 wargames from 2010 to 2019.  His particular focus is on the most influential games that have “changed the genre from just a hex and counter focused format to conflicts represented through all types of mediums from cubes, to blocks, to miniatures and cards”.  But is he right?

Jon reviews his wargaming throughout 2019. The big game of the year was Grissburg, played through June and July and part of the Napoleonic Campaign. It finally delivered a decisive French victory but not the wholesale destruction of the Prussian defenders Napoleon was hoping for.
