The Holiday Hiatus

31 August 2022

Returning to deal with my lack of mojo is a challenge. The Sopwith Camels had been built, based and base painted, then I “had” to go on holiday. This meant that I left myself with a lot done, but also with a little more to do.  I would easily be able to deal with them upon my return.

The problem is that having been on holiday from Wargaming for effectively three weeks now, and itching to return to the workbench, I am still effectively in uber relaxed mode. It appears that getting back into the swing of things is not as easy as it used to be. I am only slowly getting my wargaming mojo back after such a brilliant time away.

I then found on my return to the workbench that there was more to do than I first remembered, which again left me feeling a bit like there was a mountain to climb. Then I remembered that the trick is to break a large daunting task down into bite-sized manageable bits.

I also found that Heroics and Ros had delivered some very handy decals for the models I had been working on, I had forgotten that I bought them before we left for Turkey. My Mojo seemed to be returning a bit.

I must add that I am impressed by them, but I just know they are going to be quite a bit of work to apply to my trusty British Sopwith Camels. They are for 1/600 to 1/200 scale models so I know some of them will fit on my trusty aircraft, we will have to see how they work out.

Thinking ahead in bite-sized bits there are two things I must do now: finish writing the first draft ruleset of the WW1 dogfighting rules, then work on the next flight build which will be my Germans in their Fokker D.VIII’s to fight my Camels.

These should be a slightly easier build and therefore ease my back towards my full wargaming mojo, so having been on a bit of a project break we plan to come back all guns blazing.
