1st Corps done and dusted

30 October 2022

I am calling these done and ready for action after a liberal dose of the Varnishes. Longstreet's Corp of the Army of North Virginia and Reynold Corp of the Army of the Potomac are all done and ready for action...

A lot of effort in a small amount of time means that I am getting quite a lot of return in that I worked for a few hours of time and did not invest a lot of money.

Here is Longstreets 1st Corps of the Army of North Virginia:

Having used division-sized bases Longstreet's corps looks like this which means that each base contains a lot of men and equipment.

Here is Pickett's division from the front:

And again from the side:

These bases represent approximately 3,000 to 5,000 men, two to three brigades. Larger divisions will be represented by multiple bases like Hoods and McLaws, seen above. Picketts, a smaller division, is only on one base.

Here we see Reynolds 1st Corps from the Army of the Potomac.

Following the same thinking, I similarly based Reynolds corps in the same way. Union corps tended to be smaller as we can see here Reynolds corps is around 12,000 men as opposed to over 20,000 for Longstreet's corps.

Here is Wadsworth's division from the front:

And again from the side:

I now have the first two corps from the armies that fought at the Battle of Gettysburg. Now I am going to prepare for building Ewell's 2nd corps with 5 bases is a similar size to Longstreet's 1st corps, and also preparing Hancock's 2nd corps and Sickles 3rd corps which together number about 21,000 men on 5 bases also.
