For both armies presented as painted, built and based - Total Price = £936.19
Perry Miniatures 28mm pre-painted bases go for £20 per base of three infantry figures and £28 for the command base. This means that for one unit of 12 painted figures, such as the 14th North Carolina, it would cost you £88.
The Collection Calculator comes up with a valuation for the same unit, bought painted, built and based for £44.16. We think this is about right in the current market place for personal collections.
Looking on eBay we find individual painted units with prices ranging between £50 and £80 to one rebel brigade for £350. So, we are finding a big fluctuation in how the pricing is being pitched on the eBay platform. When individual armies are put up for auction, they tend to start at about the £30 area and can go for up to £100 after auction.
After putting in the time to buy them and then the effort you put in to base and then paint them, you should certainly not undervalue your work on the figures you have prepared.
£50 is far too low and £88 may be too high. However, you should be making enough time to enter them on the Collection Calculator to get a line on the real value of your units and armies.
By putting them through the Collection Calculator process and getting the valuation this will give you a guide to what you should be asking. You can then at least sell them at a reasonable and informed price.
