The Generals have arrived

03 March 2017

The Cavalry painting went well and I am getting faster. The turn around is now about 1½ hours to complete a base, not including drying time in between. The basing is getting smoother as I find my way and I have that down to four processes.

  • Paint the base
  • PVA and sand
  • Wash the base
  • 50/50 PVA and water plus grass and then allow to dry in between actions.

Once painted and based, collection calculator says each Generals base is worth about £11.00. Happy days.

Brown,Bronze and Metal

The mounted figures are quite enjoyable to paint. Big blocks of colours are good as you can cover a lot of a figure in a short amount of time. Large areas of brown on the horses, heaps of bronze on the Generals stand and piles of metal on the Cavalry stand.

Once done the rest is just adding the detail to the model. The various processes of painting, adding washes and re-touching areas to provide the layers that bring out the best of the figures themselves continues until you are finally happy with the finished product.
