Thank the gods! the Cavalry's here

10 March 2017

After the confident showing with the Velites I am still a bit nervous. It might have just been luck. After a number of years out of the game, I have now completed one half decent paint job. I need to keep this going and turn it into a streak.

There are lots of painting advice videos on the internet. This help didn't exist back in the day, but now I can check out all sorts of techniques. And as I work I am adding the completed bases to the record of my collections on collection calculator. I have to say that I am very pleased with the relative value of the work it is showing me that I am doing.

Painting Horses

Blimey, big horses! I am very used to painting 6mm horses and I use the Pete Berry method. "Most horses are brown, so stick with that".

He goes on to explain that if you want to make them look different put some white spots on the noses, some white around the legs and paint a few tails a slightly lighter colour than the rest of the horse.

I like this approach to painting horses. But this time I have stuck with brown all over. As my confidence returns, I will try and vary it.
